The Avalon Standard is the framework Avalon Haus uses to think about residential design, construction, and long-term ownership. It asks a simple question of every decision, large or small.

The five principles aren't separate scorecards. They overlap. A single decision can affect water management, indoor air quality, comfort, energy use, maintenance, appearance, and long-term durability all at once.
Why It Exists
Beautiful is not the same as well built.
A home may look exceptional on the day the keys are handed over and still contain decisions that affect durability, comfort, indoor air quality, energy use, and maintenance for years afterward. Many of those decisions will never be visible once construction is complete.

Building the Avalon Standard from the ground up.
Project 001 is the first ground-up application of the Avalon Standard — a custom residence now in preconstruction in Foley, Alabama. The project will document how decisions across the five principles are considered from site, design, and engineering through specifications, procurement, construction, commissioning, occupancy, and maintenance — creating a transparent educational case study of the Avalon Standard applied from the ground up.
